The ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance (AHA) Centre, in collaboration with the International Buddhist Education Center (IBEC) and the Future Light Youth Development Organization (FLYDO), organized earthquake relief efforts at IBEC. Essential supplies, including rice, oil, salt, and household items, were distributed to families affected by the disaster.
High-ranking officials from the embassies of Malaysia, Brunei, and Thailand in Myanmar, together with senior representatives from the AHA Centre, visited IBEC to pay their respects to the Venerable IBEC Principal and to coordinate relief distribution. Discussions also focused on continued cooperation for humanitarian aid, peacebuilding, and educational initiatives in Myanmar.
Following this, the ASEAN delegation, alongside the IBEC Principal, observed the ongoing humanitarian assistance programs being carried out at IBEC to support earthquake-affected communities.
For many years, ASEAN governments, non-governmental organizations, civil society, ASEAN partner embassies, and IBEC have worked hand-in-hand on peace, education, and social development initiatives. Today, these partnerships continue in the form of food and relief distribution, with IBEC serving as a key base of operations for humanitarian assistance to those impacted by the earthquake in Myanmar.
Looking ahead, the ASEAN partners and the IBEC Principal reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together on peacebuilding, education, and community development for the people of Myanmar.
