About Our Program

IBEC was founded by Ven: Dr. Sobhita (Aggamahasaddhammajotikadhaja) in 2008. “Established
with the approval of the Ministry of Religious Affairs since its inception, the institution commenced
its operations as a Basic Education Primary School (No. 26) and began conducting foundational
education activities.”

IBEC Monastic Education School

Established in 2008, the Buddhist monastic education school has been providing instruction annually to over 2,000 individuals, including monks, novices, and both male and female students.

From Monastic Roots to National Recognition

Since its establishment, the institution has maintained a free education system, providing free education up to the present time.

Sixteen Years of Free Education

Following the 2012–2013 academic year, with recognition from the Ministry of Education and the Sagaing Region Government under President U Thein Sein and subsequent administrations, the institution went on educational services from Kindergarten through Grade 12 until the 2024– 2025 academic year, even before the enactment of the National Education Law.

IBEC Monastic Education School

The IBEC Monastic Education School has also been implementing a community-based education system since the 2022–2023 academic year.

Education for All

The school is operated and managed by over 70 teaching and administrative staff. The principal of the school is Venerable Dr. Ashin Sobhita (Aggamahasadhammajotikadhaja), and the head in charge is the senior teacher, Daw Aye Myint Thu.

IBEC — Sixteen Years of Education and Service

The IBEC Buddhist Monastic Education School, fully compliant with the National Education Law as mandated by the Ministry of Education, has been offering free education since the 2024– 2025 academic year—providing basic education annually from Kindergarten through Grade 8 to monks, novices and students.
